This listing is for a leather lead with a tweed handle, we have only three ready-made available.
- ‘Black/brown’ with solid brass or silver hardware, light tan stitching and a ‘Rob Roy’ tweed handle,
Woven on the beautiful island of Islay at the Islay Woollen Mill where a small team are still using traditional weaving methods.
Named Rob Roy as it was used in the 1995 blockbuster movie and worn by Liam Neeson’s character.
The soft, subtle blues and earthy reds and rusts are such a stunning combination. Perfect for all stylish pups.
We have a very small amount of this Tweed, available which can be made into Bow Ties, Collars, Leads and Treat bags, order now to avoid disappointment!
Each order ships with a 15ml sample tin of our C&T Leather balm.
Sizes are as per our tweed leads, and are:
- Large Lead – 1″ wide to match Large and Extra Large Collars
- Medium Lead – 3/4″ wide to match Medium Collars
- Small Lead – 5/8″ wide to match Small and Extra Small Collars
Length of all leads is around 3ft including the handle.
Unlike most mass-produced leather goods, this is designed and made to last. The full-grain, vegetable-tanned leather is coated with a protective layer and treated still further with C&T Leather Balm before being sent out to you.
Each lead is painstakingly hand-stitched using a proven heritage technique called “saddle stitching”. This is done entirely by hand, and produces an incredibly strong stitch. Unlike a “lock stitch” produced by a sewing machine, where the item may start to come apart if the thread is broken in even just one place, a saddle-stitched item is much stronger. A single break in the thread will not usually allow the item to come apart, as two complete threads in a continuous figure of eight hold the parts together.
The lead is treated with a leather balm that aids its ability to repel water. This does not make the lead “waterproof”.
If the lead does become wet, allow it to dry slowly somewhere cool and dry. Wipe or brush dry to remove dog hair or dried dirt, then with a damp cloth to remove any residual dirt. Treat with a leather balm such as C&T Leather Balm to restore a balance of moisture and oils to the leather.
Immersion in water will shorten the life of the lead and is not recommended.
Periodically apply C&T Leather Balm by hand to keep the leather soft, moist and supple.
